Yaqub (Jacob) — يَعْقُوب

Story — English

Son of Ishaq, father of twelve sons including Yusuf. Warned Yusuf not to tell his brothers his dream. When Yusuf disappeared, his brothers brought back a false blood-stained shirt. Yaqub said ‘Sabrun jamil — beautiful patience’ and declared they had fabricated something. He wept so much for Yusuf that he lost his sight. When accused of losing himself in grief, he said ‘I complain of my suffering only to Allah’ (12:86). He never lost hope in Yusuf being alive. Years later his sight was restored when Yusuf’s shirt was placed on his face.

کہانی — اردو

اسحاق کے بیٹے، یوسف کے باپ۔ یوسف کے غائب ہونے پر خون آلود قمیص لائی گئی۔ ‘صبر جمیل’ کہا۔ اتنا رویا کہ آنکھیں چلی گئیں۔ کہا: ‘میں اپنا غم صرف اللہ سے کہتا ہوں’ (12:86)۔ یوسف کی امید کبھی نہ چھوڑی۔
