Story — English
The greatest of the angels, the bearer of divine revelation. Brought the Quran to Muhammad ﷺ over 23 years. Described as ‘of great power, secure in position with the Lord of the Throne, obeyed there and trustworthy’ (81:19-21). Appeared to the Prophet ﷺ in his true form twice — once near Sidrat al-Muntaha (53:13-14). Appeared to Maryam in the form of a man. Appeared as a man to the companions to teach about Islam, Iman, and Ihsan (Hadith of Jibreel). He is supported by Allah’s permission to bring revelation (2:97). Whoever is an enemy to Jibreel has made Allah their enemy (2:97-98).
