Named alongside Jibreel in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:98): ‘Whoever is an enemy to Allah, and His angels, and His messengers, and Jibreel and Mikael — then indeed, Allah is an enemy to the disbelievers.’ According to Islamic tradition, Mikael is responsible for rizq (provision) and rain — managing the physical sustenance of creation. He is among the highest angels.
